GCSE & A-Level French Tutoring, Online
One-to-one French tuition over Zoom — building real confidence in speaking and grammar, alongside the exam technique that secures the grade.
French rewards students who use the language, not just revise it. The speaking exam in particular is where confidence makes or breaks a grade — and it's the hardest thing to build from a textbook alone. One-to-one lessons give a student real conversation practice in a low-pressure setting, while tightening the grammar and vocabulary the written papers demand.
What we cover
We tutor French at both GCSE and A-Level, to any exam board we're confident in — including AQA and Edexcel (Pearson).
- Speaking: conversation practice, role-play and photo-card technique to build genuine fluency and confidence
- Listening & reading: strategies for coping with authentic materials at speed
- Grammar: tenses, agreement and sentence structure, taught so they stick
- Translation & writing: both directions, plus essay technique for A-Level film and literature topics
Who teaches it
French is taught by Imogen, who studies French & Art History at the University of Edinburgh and spends the coming year on placement at the École du Louvre in Paris. With A-Level French and a degree immersed in the language, she offers the kind of confident, natural conversation practice that lifts a speaking grade. Read more about Imogen and our approach →
Our approach to French
Lessons balance real communication with exam precision — plenty of speaking, then targeted work on the grammar and technique each paper needs, practised from past papers. Because speaking a language aloud can feel exposing, we keep the atmosphere relaxed and encouraging, so students are willing to try, make mistakes, and improve. A monthly parent check-in and an open student feedback loop keep everyone invested and progress on track.
